Product Info

Digestive Advantage Lactose Defense Formula is a probiotics supplement with two ingredients to support your digestive health. It includes BC30 probiotic to help defend against digestive upsets and bloating and support overall digestive health, as well as lactase to help in the digestion of lactose and prevent symptoms associated with lactose intolerance.

Contains Lactase to Prevent Symptoms of Lactose Intolerance
The lactase enzyme in Digestive Advantage Lactose Defense Formula helps break down lactose in the food you eat.* This helps prevent the gas, bloating, and occasional diarrhea commonly experienced by people with lactose sensitivities after eating dairy.* Take one capsule daily when consuming dairy foods to defend against digestive upset.

BC30 Survives 10 Times Better**
Your digestive system is home to 10,000 microbial species or microflora, both beneficial and otherwise. Probiotics are good microflora, usually living bacteria but also yeast and other organisms, that help maintain a healthy microbial environment and help keep your digestive system happy.

Many other probiotics don't survive the harsh acidic stomach environment and are destroyed. BC30 (Bacillus coagulans), the unique strain of bacteria in Digestive Advantage has a naturally occuring protective shell surrounding each cell, so it can withstand the harsh acidity of your stomach. With a survival rate 10 times higher than other probiotics, including yogurt, BC30 is better able to reach your intestines alive and promotes a healthy digestive tract.**

Supports Immune Health*
The health of your immune system is impacted by your digestive health. In fact, 70 percent of immune system is physically located in the digestive tract. As a probiotic, BC30 has been shown to support healthy immune function.*

** Based on median percentage survivability of Digestive Advantage vs. probiotic supplements and 20 probiotic yogurts in simulated gastric pH for 2 hours.

I see that the directions specify children 8 years and older. I have a three year old who is lactose intolerant, would you recommend this in smaller dose? My pediatrician said it should be fine because it is just the enzyme, but thought I'd inquire here.

Asked by: Noodles
Hi Noodles! I first want to make it clear that I am no doctor by any means but I can tell you that my three children ages 6, 8, &10 take Digestive Advantage. We adopted them in 2009 and did not receive much of the biological parents medical history so after non stop stomach pains and vomiting after eating with my oldest, her pediatrician referred her to a gastroenterologist and after a few visits with him he decided to preform a scope to be able to look in her tummy and try to resolve the issue. He informed us that she was lacking the enzymes to break down the sugars in the milk (lactase) she also has reflux and 3 tummy ulcers. She was on 3 different medications and now is currently on Prilosec (prescription) and OTC Digestive Advantage (2 pills in am) my child is no longer complaining of her tummy. I would think that your child would be able to take it however for a three year I would start with one pill. The gastroenterologist did tell us to start off with one and if she still complains the go to 2 pills each morning. If your pediatrician told you it would be fine for your child then I would say go for it! Just make sure your child's doctor is aware of any other medications your child may be on from other doctors. Good luck with this and I highly recommend Digestive Advantage it has worked wonders with mine. And yes I have tried other products for lactose intolerance and was NOT happy at all!
